Dear Arlington Heights Park District Residents,
On Tuesday July 1, 2008 a contractor working on the improvements to Memorial Park took down a flag pole that still had the American Flag attached. Unfortunately, that flag laid on the ground for a period of time, which as we all know, is a violation of appropriate flag etiquette.
As soon as the Park District was notified of this situation the flag was removed from the site and is now appropriately in storage.
We are proud of our service to this community and proud of being a part of this great country. We love the flag and what it stands for, as witnessed by the Park District's annual flag display at North School Park.
The Arlington Heights Park District sincerely apologizes for this treatment of the American Flag and pledges that it will not happen again.
Thank you,
Stephen C. Scholten
Executive Director
