Volunteer
The Arlington Heights Park District is a large system offering diverse parks and recreation opportunities throughout the community. With over 715 acres, we could not do what we do without you. The dedication and energy of volunteers enables us to expand programs and take on projects we could not otherwise do.

The Giving Tree Donor Program
Pioneer Community Center features a donor Giving Tree. Donated by a local family in honor a loved one, the Giving Tree provides an opportunity for residents to make a donation in their name, pay tribute, or memorialize someone special; a family member or friend. Leaves of Gold, Silver and Bronze will be part of this enduring art as a lasting tribute.
Major Contributor
Rita Schofield (1924-2005) was a long-time resident of Arlington Heights who could be found every morning regardless of rain, snow, heat or cold, walking the path surrounding Pioneer Park. She volunteered much of her time within the Arlington Heights community, serving as an election judge, volunteering at Northwest Community Hospital and supporting other causes she held dear. Rita was a true pioneer with her “people first” attitude and was always ready to offer a helping hand to family, friends and strangers alike.

Brick Memorial Program
Purchase an engraved brick along the walkways in North School Park, Memorial Park, or Canine Commons Dog Park.
To maintain the ambiance of downtown Arlington Heights, paving bricks are used for the walkways through North School Park and Memorial Park. Residents and businesses of Arlington Heights have contributed by purchasing engraved bricks which are placed in the walkways. The Buy-A-Brick program gives people the opportunity to show family names, propose marriage, honor a loved one, and celebrate anniversaries, among other things.
Memorial orders are accepted throughout the year however, installations take place in spring and fall so orders must be placed by March 1 and August 1 respectively. Actual install date is dependent upon the weather. Due to the paving pattern, bricks can only be grouped in pairs. All donations are tax deductible.
If you have any questions, please call the Park District at 847-577-3000 and ask for the Memorial Donation Program staff.

Bench Memorial Program
Create a special place of remembrance with a new bench in the parks.
A bench memorial is the perfect way to accent one of our parks and provides a special place of remembrance. Inscribe on one of our memorial benches a message of love, recognition, hope, or whatever you desire. The historical dedication provides a lasting tribute in honor of a loved one and enhances the meaning of a bench to park users.
The Arlington Heights Park District Memorial benches are 6 foot wide with recycled plastic cedar panels and cast iron supports and reside on an ADA accessible concrete bench pad. Additionally, a personalized 2″x10″ bronze plaque in honor of your loved one is included.
