Canine Commons

Canine Commons is a joint venture between the Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect Park Districts with 1.82 acres of lush outdoor space for dogs to run, play, and socialize unleashed while owners mingle. Situated at Melas Park, the dog park has three enclosures: one enclosure exclusively for dogs under 25 lbs. and two rotating enclosures for larger dogs. The park also features shade trees, picnic tables, and waste receptacles with bag dispensers.

Membership Requirements

Proof of Current vaccines and Exams
Dogs must be at least 4 months old

  • Distemper
  • Hepatitis
  • Parvovirus
  • Leptospirosis
  • Rabies
  • Fecal Test

Annual Membership Fees

  • $50 for the First Dog
  • $25 for Each Additional Dog, up to Three Dogs Total

Dog Park Rules and Regulations

For the health and safety of the dogs, the owners, and all who use Melas Park, members must observe Canine Commons rules and regulations when using the dog park.

How to Purchase a Membership

Memberships are limited to residents of the Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect Park District and residents must register through their home Park District. There may be waitlist to purchase a membership. Please be aware that Village resident boundaries are Park District resident boundaries are not identical.

Arlington Heights Park District Residents

Please contact Kevin Wollnik at kwollnik@ahpd.org for more information. If there are available memberships, you’ll be sent registration materials and instructions. If there’s a waitlist, staff will acquire your contact information and reach out to you as soon as a membership becomes available.

Mount Prospect Park District Residents
