Arlington Heights Park District Preschool

At Arlington Heights Park District’s preschool, our age-appropriate curriculum fosters a love of learning through play. In a safe and nurturing environment, children blossom socially, emotionally, intellectually, and physically. Daily activities like art, music, movement, dramatic play, math, science, and storytelling equip them with the skills and experiences needed for a smooth transition to kindergarten, in alignment with area school district guidelines.

Over two years, your child will develop a strong foundation in literacy by recognizing and printing their name, mastering basic colors and shapes, and confidently counting from 1 to 20!

How you can help your preschooler prepare for the school year?

  • Make handwashing fun! Sing songs together like “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” or the Alphabet Song twice to practice washing for 20 seconds. Show them how to cough or sneeze into their elbow, a shirt they can pull over their mouth, or a tissue (teach them to throw the tissue away right after).
  • Drive or walk by their preschool and point out the door they’ll use to enter for school.
  • Talk about what it’s like to separate from mom or dad and how much fun they will have!
  • Discuss how important it is to let a teacher or parent know if they are not feeling well.
