The Park District’s Active Adult Program at the Senior Center welcomes everyone – whether you’re fully retired, semi-retired, or still working. We offer a fun and affordable way to stay fit and social.

2024 Tour Membership
$25 Yearly Membership Dues ($35 Household Rate for two people living at the same address)
Benefits included with membership:
- Open to anyone 18 or older (21 for casino tours)
- Enjoy a $15 discount on tours and 10% off merchandise in the Gift Shop located inside the Senior Center

Beginning Crochet
You too can make afghans, coasters, scarves and more. Learn how to do basic stitches and read a pattern.
Crochet with Friends Drop-In
Crocheting is a relaxing hobby. This drop-in program lets you socialize with friends while working on your personal projects. An instructor is available for questions or advice. Supplies are not included.
Quilting with Friends Drop-In
Work on your personal project while socializing with those who share your passion for quilting. An instructor is available for suggestions or questions. Supplies are not included.
Mixed Media Art
This class incorporates multiple medias like watercolor, pencil, charcoal, pen and ink. Rita has designed this class for students of all skill levels from the beginner to the advanced artist. Learn More.
Art of Acrylics
Learn to work with and create beautiful artwork with acrylic paints. Available for beginners and intermediate/advanced artists.
Works of Art
Explore the fine art of portraiture or delve into creating a landscape, floral or still life. Just bring a photo to create into your masterpiece.
Water Colors
Learn color mixing, materials and techniques with a wide variety of subject matter, guided by our instructor. All levels welcome
50 Shades of Colored Pencils
This portable medium gives you the ability to make vivid and rich drawings that can look like paintings.
Artfully Delicious and More
With rotating classes like drawing, charcoals and pastels, tapestry weaving and mediative Japanese calligraphy, there’s an art class for all!
The Park District offers many different dance classes conducted by incredibly talented instructors. Classes and workshops are offered during the week, on the weekend, and even in the evening.

Broadway Bound
Join us to have fun as you learn different dances from Broadway musicals.
Be Moved
Discover the beauty of ballet in our tailored class for seniors. Embrace graceful movements, develop coordination and balance, and enhance flexibility as you learn the foundations of ballet. No experience required.
Tap Dance
This class focuses on Tap, a truly American dance style. Students learn tap moves, technique and choreography. Multiple sections and levels available.
Line Dance Drop-In
Whether you are a novice or advanced, come enjoy camaraderie as your dance the night away! New dances and classic favorites await.
The Park District offers a variety of Active Adult Programs including Bridge, self-improvement workshops, art classes, woodworking, craft classes such as quilting, crochet & knitting, theme luncheons, day trips and more!

We are committed to health & fitness. We strive to make your exercise experience enjoyable and fun. There are programs for all levels from beginning to advanced students to meet your individual fitness needs.
Senior Yoga Classes
Yoga
Restore your mind, body and spirit through learning yoga flows. Floor routines are included.
Chair Yoga
This class is great for the yoga student who does not feel comfortable getting on the floor. Learn all the techniques while sitting in a chair or at the balance barre.
Zumba Gold
Have fun in this innovative, fun and exciting class! Zumba Gold combines high energy music with unique moves and combinations focusing on elements of cardiovascular & muscular training as well as flexibility and balance.
Tai Chi
Improve balance, posture, breathing and relax the mind while strengthening the muscles, tendons and joints. You’ll learn Qi Gong breathing and 24 forms of Tai Chi.
Fun & Fit Aerobic Classes
Our d Fun & Fit classes bring you daily aerobics and strength classes. Join to be a Fun & Fit member today! Please bring your own water bottle.

Arlington Athletic Club
The Arlington Athletic Club is operated by the Park District and located within the Senior Center. Work out at your own pace in a casual relaxed atmosphere.
Club Features
Exercise equipment includes a multi-direction Cybex weight station, recumbent bikes, Schwinn airdyn bikes, treadmills, rowing machines, Stairmaster, elliptical machines, NuStep Recumbent steppers, free weights, and closed circuit TV.

The Woodshop is a joint venture with the Village of Arlington Heights, The Senior Center, Inc. and Arlington Heights Park District.
Woodshop Membership
A safety evaluation and certification is required before purchasing a woodshop membership. Participants must be 18 years or older. Once evaluated and certified, you have gain access to the shop located in the Senior Center. There are eight complete work stations. Please call the Park District at 847.797.5341 to learn more and get evaluated and certified.

Woodshop Classes

Beginners Woodworking
Do you want to create an outstanding wood project but don’t know all the ins and outs of a Woodshop and its tools? In this class, you will learn how to use the equipment properly while making a wood project. All supplies are included.
Carve On
Learn to carve one-of-a-kind relief plaques, simple figures and other special projects through this specialized art form. It’s fun, relaxing, and rewarding! A supply list is available at the first class. Register early as space is limited.
Learn the Lathe
Have you ever wanted to learn how to do wood turning and use a lathe? Learn the process step-by-step! You will receive a project assignment to complete before the next class. Class fee includes one extra visit to the Wood Shop during regular hours to practice your new skills. Schedule your shop visit in the Senior Center Park District Office in advance to make sure the lathe is available for use.
Build Your Own Birdhouse
Build your own birdhouse in one 3-hour session! Work one-on-one with the Senior Center Woodshop Coordinator to construct the birdhouse. Learn to safely use the table saw, chop saw, and drop press in the process. Participants must supply their own 1”x10” 8ft piece of #2 pine board. Available during regular Woodshop hours.
